Educated at a Secondary school in Chippenham, Sgt Price went on to pass his entry exam for the No 1 School of Technical Training at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire. On completion of his training with the 23rd Entry No 1 SoTT, he was posted to Palestine and Libya before returning to the UK in 1937 to attend his Pilot’s course, attaining his wings six months later. Having taken part in some of the early raids of the war including one against Kiel, Sgt Price was posted to France at Christmas 1940.
At 0820 on the 14th March 1940 Sgt Price and his crew Sgt R J Stanley and LAC R Brown took off on a training flight from Perpignan. The aircraft crashed into the sea some 21km SSE of Perpignan at Argelès-Sur-Mer, only LAC Brown survived the crash, Sgt’s Price and Stanley are now buried at the Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles.
