Chippenham Airman Killed.
An old boy of Chippenham Secondary School LAC Ewart Charles Yeates RAF, elder son of Mrs L Yeates of the Old Road Inn has been killed. He was 25 years of age and before joining the Air Force last October was a Sales Clerk at the Wiltshire Bacon Co. Since he had been in the Air Force he had passed his examinations and at the time of his death was awaiting his wings. He was a keen athlete and at one time played football for a Calne team. He was also secretary to the Embassy Dance Orchestra. His father who died only a short time ago was a passenger guard on the GWR.
